Horse Head_Portrait Sketch by EmeraldAbsynth Horse Head_Portrait Sketch by EmeraldAbsynth
Okay, okay, I know...sketches should be put in the scraps section. But even though this piece is still an unfinished sketch, I believe it still belongs in my gallery. To see a drawing in the middle stages is just as important and beautiful as a completed one, so that's that. ;P
Done in 0.5 mechanical pencil & enhanced on the computer so that you can see the lines clearly. As per usual, I tend to take a sketch like this straight to completion, starting at one area (probably the eye) and working my way out and around it - starting off lightly on the shading, and just continuously layering darker until it's done. Because of that method, I personally don't tend to use my eraser much. ^^;
Anyways, with that out of the way, here is probably my one and only animal picture you'll ever get to see (unless I draw a new one of course ^_^). Drawn from a painting or a photograph (I can't remember which) that I found in a calendar, for no particular reason aside from the fact that I love horses....There's been inches cut off on all sides, but what can you do when the pic's too big for the scanner?

Aww, cuteness! The only thing I wish were more "finished" about this is that it needs more dark areas: either on the horse, as shadows, or on the background, for contrast. But that's a minor thing. I really like it :)

Thanks! :heart: If I still knew where that one was, or it's reference photo for that matter, I would totally finish the whole thing. But both are lost! Somewhere in boxes and boxes of old drawings..... ^^;

Gah! Stupid DA not letting me submit my comment. I'll show you I will.

You're putting my scraps to shame, to SHAME! But I like the pony very much. It's cool. 8-)

Although, it reminds me of the time I tried to get you to draw a leprechaun impaled on a unicorn's horn. I understand why you didn't draw that, but I'm going to pretend that this is going to become that unicorn. :D

Well, editing or just re-submitting stiff helps lazy new watchers like me know about your past works! You are so skilled, I know eff all about drawing animals. The fur (amongst others) really puts me off.

Truth be told, I know just as little! I simply draw what I see, but I can't for the life of me do them out of my head....And fur's no fun at all - hence why I don't often draw anything in it!! But horses are easythat way, cause it's so short it's like it's not even there. ;P But yeah, peolple are easiest....I undertand them better.

Especially Gackt, I have a very deep understanding of him, heh

I have such a big problem drawing creases and folds, have to do a naked Gackt soon! Mmmmm 6% body fat...

Pssht, you should put up whatever you like into your gallery. I mean what could be a scrap in other people's eyes could be something complete in yours - like this one for example.

You really got the anatomy down in this one! I'm so envious :D

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of the statements you've made. Had you not said anything, I would never have even suggested this piece be considered a scrap or unfinished piece of work. Sometimes an unfinished piece was "finished" intentionally so.

Well done.

:thanks: Thank you! I was worried that I'd put it up and get pounded with a pile of people saying that it was in the wrong section, so better safe than sorry! ^^;

No, I really do like it. It looks as if the horse is emerging from a blanket of mist or fog. Yeah...stick with that explanation. *grins*

And you are very welcome! :)
