Well, when I first posted the original of this piece I said that I'd fix it up one day, because It'd gotten smudged around alot....well, I started with cleaning it up, then I darkened it up because it had originally scanned too pale, and then I said "what the hell", and blurred it all weird too...so here it is. Like a brand new picture.
Oh, and I think I forgot - this pic was originally drawn from a photo of Gackt, lying in a pile of feathers (you Gackt fans know the one...).....this one's darker though, so it looks less wistful.
Whoops, I should have wrote that in my description! The reference pic for this was a photo of Gackt (Japanese singer of wow.), lying down in what seemed to be this HUGE pile bed thing 'o feathers...he was all soft and wistful looking in blues and purples and whatnot. He had his blue contacts in, though I like him better all natural and dark-eyed. This picture looks a lot darker now, though, and I like it more than the first one I'd posted.

The darkness of his eyes are really enthralling. Wow, this is beautiful. I've seen cd's of Gackt every now and then in anime stores, but I never bothered to buy them? What type of music genre does he sing?
Anywho, what type of art materials did you use to draw this? It looks like charcoal, but I could be wrong.
I know. He had a lot of eye-liner on in that photo - it made his eyes look like something in a drawing, and not real ones! When I drew this pic, I kept fussing that the eyes didn't look real enough, but I coudn't change them because that's how they actually looked!!! ^_^ Actually, I think I darkened them some, but oh well!

You've SEEN CD's of Gackt's? WHERE?!?!?!?! Which country are you in...? (Must go check...)
Anyways, hear me ramble.....!
When Gackt first became all famous and stuff, it was when he was the lead singer to a group called "Malice Mizer" - an ultimately cool J-Rock band which I beleive was pretty famous itself, both in Japan and in the usual other pockets of places around the world. Gackt then went solo and now sings a very large variety of music, in many different styles. A good amount of his music is very soft, but all of it is packed with this raw emotion, sudden changes of volume and tempo, etc. - which as an artist personally seems to inspire me to draw the most beautiful things. His voice is pretty pure, but isn't annoyingly flawless like many of our popular artists in english....you can hear him taking in breath, you can hear the pain in his voice when he sings....overall, I find him the most SOULFUL singer I've ever heard. His music isn't part of an image, it's part of HIM - he writes most or many of his own lyrics, I beleive, and there's no person I would recommend more highly. Had enough of that? Bet you're sorry you asked...!
Either way, I used 0.5 B lead in a mech. pencil for the original pic (which scanned horribly but it IS posted), and for this particular version I enhanced it to a darker tone and then blurred it, giving it unintentionally a somewhat charcoal-ish appearance. But I like this version better.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This contest ends on Friday the 18th December 2009. If you want to enter, get your entries in quick! Here are all the entries so far. Also if you want to donate a prize, that would be fantastic too, just note me
